Rewrite a classic fairy tale. I've done this before, the first time I attempted the writing challenge and I chose Goldilocks and the three bears. I actually made this my first publication. I've since ended the e-book sale because I always had in mind to turn it in to an anthology of short stories entitled Happily Never Afters.
This challenge gave me the perfect opportunity to make a start on the second story. This time, I chose Beauty and the Beast. The fairy tale of course, not the Disney film.
So before I post it, a few things. I'm not sharing the full story in its entirety. Mainly because I had no hope in hell of writing the full thing in one day. But hopefully, I've written enough to grab your attention.
More importantly, as the name of the series suggests, these are not happy stories. They deal with dark issues and sometimes the downright horrific, so please read at your own discretion.
So far, I have written up to Beauty and the Beast's first meeting, I hope you enjoy it!

Beauty and the Beast
We all know the story of Beauty and the Beast. This story follows the outline of the traditional story pretty well with some changes to make it seems more real, more intense, and not such a fairytale. There's a Mansion secluded in the thick forest south of town that Isabelle happened to run into one very stormy night. Denied help from the Master, but aided by the servants, she finds her life intertwined with theirs and there's nothing she can do to stop it. The Master is horrible - beastly. He's powerful, and manages to put Isabelle under a spell of his own. A story of two people learning about themselves by falling in love with the other. A "Beauty and the Beast" retelling. Once upon a time, there was a boy in love with a Lilly. Not a flower, but a girl. It all started one beautiful autumn day. One autumn day that would change the boy's life forever. For on this day, he met Lilly, a beautiful girl with an ugly secret. A secret that threatens to destroy her if she cannot find a way to break the curse forced upon her. Sorry," she said with a shy smile. Adam, who had been standing there staring, just as she had pointed out, finally found his voice long enough to tell her his name. She beamed at him, saying that they would be great friends. She seized his hand and began tugging him toward the woods behind the cottage, shouting to Ivy and his mother, "We won't go far! A Beauty and the Beast retelling: Once Upon a Time... there was a cursed forest where animals who could live forever existed. The animals lived in harmony with one another and away from the prying eyes of humans. However, this immortality had an unimaginable price: if the animals were ever to be killed and die, they would turn into the worst possible thing imaginable... a human. As far as they know, no animal has been killed, until now. "The beautiful red bird soared through the ocean blue sky and perched on the top tree branch. There it sang the most beautiful tune. As he starred at the bird, he noticed how the feathers shined in the sunlight. The bird had a bright red body but the top of it's head was dark black. Early Creature Inheritance
Harry Potter goes into hiding with his parents Lily and James Potter when the Dark Lord helps them fake their deaths but Harry does get the lightning bolt because Tom manages somehow to make him his seventh and last horcrux. When Harry turns 11, he goes into an early creature inheritance (Creature Inheritance in this book is when you turn 14, but because Harry went into his, Draco did as well, Tom already had his) and breaks everything of what Dumbledore had put him on, so Dumbledore is in for a surprise when Harry is put in Slytherin and becomes the mate of not only Draco Malfoy but also Tom Marvolo Riddle and Dumbledore is very surprised to see that Lily and James Potter are still alive and on the dark side, Sirius is freed and reunited with his 2 best friends one of which is his mate. CURSED KINGDOM- A Darker Steamier Version of Beauty and the Beast
A long time ago, lived a handsome prince who ruled over the beautiful kingdom of Greyson. One stormy night, he upset a powerful witch, who then cursed him and his kingdom. Everyone was trapped and could not leave Greyson, and the king was transformed into a monster. The only way to break the curse, is for the king to find true love. But who could truly love a monster. Annie finally gets the nerve to leave a bad relationship. With nothing but an old truck and camper, she starts driving to what she hopes is a new beginning. Somehow, she ends up in the cursed lands of Greyson. She finds she is trapped in a world where time stands still, and magic exist. At first it seems like a paradise. But like they say, when it seems too good to be true, most of the time it is. When there is a misunderstanding, the king accuses Annie of stealing and he kicks her out of the castle. Done with feeling rejected and alone, Annie decides it's time to find a way out. As she tries to find her way out, she starts to learn more about the curse and its people. She also starts to realize maybe the king is not as big of a monster as she thought. Even though most of Greyson is beautiful, something evil is lurking. Hopefully they learn about the threat before it is too late. This is a darker, steamier version of Beauty and the Beast. Strong sexual content, not suitable for anyone under 18.Complete
