In the end, we all say we want one more. We think we'll be satisfied by that last look, that last kiss, but it never works out that way. We're never satisfied, we don't really want just one more kiss, we want to kiss them forever. Only a few of us are lucky enough to have that, to have forever with someone you love. I'm not one of those people. When I saw her, bloody and cold, laying on that silver table I wished for one more. Another glance at her face, another hug, just one last kiss. It's been two years since then and I've since realized I want more than just that. Don't get me wrong, I'd be the happiest man alive if I could hold her one more time. But then the moment would pass, and I'd fall back into depression. Holding her would just be another broken memory of her. So I spend my days in a routine; wake up, go to work, eat lunch, work, come home, eat dinner, watch tv, go to bed. It's boring. When Tris died, it was like all color got drained from my life and what was once a vibrant array of colors is now just a dull grey. I want her back.

"You shouldn't be here," I whisper-yelled to him. "I shouldn't," he agrees. "I should let them kill you," I added as he began to walk slowly towards me. "You should," he tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear," But you won't." I'm about to argue that I will when he brings his lips down to meet mine in a slow, thought-halting kiss. Then another. Then another. ____ Do you know what death is like? I do. I've lived through a million deaths a million ways, it's all the same. There is no angel standing next to you to help you up, no bright light, just a cold feeling followed by something I can only describe as numb. I can't complain though, I was born to see these things. I was born to see death and to stop it. That's what oracles do. So when I foresee the death of the entire wolf race, I need to find a way to stop it. Only to find out that the one who ends the race is, in fact, my own mate. Can I find it in my heart to let him be killed? Or can I stop the end from coming another way? This is part of a series, you can get by without reading the first book but be warned that it contains spoilers if you read the previous one later. Book 2.
