CALLS ACROSS THE PACIFIC, a novel by Zoë S. Roy was released by Inanna publications in October 2015. It tells the story of a Nina Huang. Admit the Chinese Cultural Revolution, she says goodbye to her boyfriend, who plans to join the Viet Cong, and sneaks across the bay to Hong Kong. She arrives in the United States as a political refugee and graduates from a political science program. Years later, as a journalist in Canada, Nina travels back to China to interview her contemporaries and is apprehended in a labour camp. Finally, she escapes from the red terror again.
