He didn't have any reason to keep fighting, he could go to his regular classes, and not stress about being a soldier, right? Oh wait, he's the main character, of course not.

Just when he has given up, he finds an unlikely group of friends after he is tossed around by a wandering ghoul. When he is saved by Dakota Lanister, his life is turned around, and a new group is formed with him taking the lead.
