Is everything that we do our fate ? Or is it our choices ? What are bonds ? How deep do they go ? It may seem like everything that we do is our fate, but it is not. It is our choices that determine our fate. Bonds are deep connections between people. They go beyond your current life, they are renewed in every life, even stronger than it was before. Almost like soulmates, isn't it ? Well, in the case of Light Yagami and L. Lawliet, it is indeed the case. Light and L are reincarnated, with different names but the same physical looks and lifestyles. Both are in their early twenties and joined the Metropolitan Police Department some years back. Now they are promoted to detective and work under Kana Yagami, Light's twin sister, in the homicide division. A prominent businessman, Alexander Kennedy, dies, apparently a suicide. The duo visit the crime scene of their very first case and quickly realize that something was off. He had no reason to suicide. Their simple case quickly turns deadly as the death note resurfaces and the deepest, darkest secrets of the world's most powerful countries are exposed, forcing Kana to turn to an old associate, Near, for help.
