He was broken until Ava showed up in her black laced wedges and skater skirt. Now he's even more broken, but broken in love.

Theo's sister, Iris, died in a fire three years ago, and it crushed his life to pieces. Depression stole his father and friends, and sent him to school as a lonely outsider. But when Ava walks into class late, something changes. 

One morning, Theo saves Ava from being violated by the school bullies, putting his life in danger instead. Little does he know this isn't the first time something like this has happened, and it won't be the last either.

       "Room twenty seven, science. I'm going by there, I can walk you?" I offer, and she smiles, nodding her head. 
        The hallways are nearly empty as we're walking through them. The mad rush to get to next lesson is over, so only the stragglers are left. Once we get to the door, Ava thanks me and I turn to leave, going back the other way. 
       "I thought you said you were going past here?" she calls after me. I shake my head and give her a salute over my shoulder. I hear a humph from Ava and the door of the science room opening and closing again, and for the second time today, Ava is apologizing for being late.
