Jadeite and Nephrite have been friends since they were just toddlers. Having been fascinated with the fighting spirit that both their parents displayed during Pokémon battles, the young children vowed to become the strongest trainers in the region. They challenged, exchanged advices and played with each other every day, laughing and chatting for every second together. 

One day, Jadeite left the Stanar Region to treat her sick grandmother in the Unova Region, promising her best friend that she would be back as a strong trainer. For ten years, Nephrite waited for her return. On his fourteenth birthday, he started his journey towards the Pokémon League, asking Professor Linden if he could be one of the trainers to explore and capture all the Pokémon. 

But his endeavour will have to wait, as he unravels some of the biggest secrets his friend could ever hide when she mysteriously returns with a different perspective of the Pokémon world.

And the minute the professor returns she's out the door. As her journey begins, Riley meets a young boy who's labeled himself as a failure, but refuses to accept her help or convenience her with respect. They reluctantly travel together and Riley becomes aware of a name being used to refer to her: Champion, though she hasn't won any gym badges or done anything special. Meanwhile, in the shadows, Team Plasma reorganizes, gaining strength under corrupt Sages and officers and led by Ghetsis. The team preaches a new direction, but the same motives added to a more "direct" and violent approach. It searches for objects it's lost and powerful members who've fled; all the while planning a destructive and unstoppable endgame, eventually crossing paths with Riley. The new trainer sees Team Plasma's vile actions and builds up a hatred for it, becoming determined to stop them whenever they meet while continuing THE JOURNEY OF A CHAMPION. This makes Rosa the only person he doesn't talk to, due to a complication in their childhood he regrets, thought never mentions it, but Rosa was easy to forgive and forget, yet still prefers to keep herself away from getting hurt again. When learning that Nate never talked to Rosa before, his friends go far and beyond to help their friendship bloom again. But things aren't taken lightly and everyone soon discovered that there was trauma in their past. Trying to get past the complicated insecurities the couple holds, it'll take a lot of work for the students from multiple regions to get through.
