Beatrice (Tris) Prior is in high school at Divergent High in Chicago. She's 16 and in 11th grade a junior in high school. Her father Marcus got a job in Chicago that payed more than the other job he had so Tris, her slightly older brother Caleb and her father all moved from Kentucky to Chicago over the summer. Tris's mother died when she was young. Tris makes new friends but they soon ignore her when they misjudge something that happened in her past. With all that going on we can't forget that her father abuses her causing her to get further into her depression.
