Mabel Pines used to be the happiest girl in the world, but when she returns to Gravity Falls in the summer after her first year of high school. It's clear that something is different. She looks way different and doesn't smile at all. Dipper tries to get her to open up, but she just ignores him. So Dipper turns to Pacifica Northwest, although Mabel and Pacifica had never truly been friends, they started to become closer the summer before Mabel left.
