When a tragic event occurs to Mako's un-hatched egg, his perspective on life changes completely. As he struggles to learn how to swim properly and carry the heavy feeling of someday he'll literally freeze to death, Mako becomes an extreme chance-taker.
His parents always warn him to stay near the water, to stay near the ocean. Never stay out after the Sun goes down. As a feeling of stubbornness strikes his mind, Mako slips out of the water at midnight to explore. What's he got to loose?
When a massive Tornado suddenly turns Mako's world upside-down, he is forced to take cover in the nearest area possible. It so happens, this area is a large cave...where temperatures are below freezing, and icicles hang like daggers.
As he meets an IceWing that's a good ten years older than him, Mako must learn to endure the cold...or let his Icy burden shatter his life.

But it is hard to keep a promise like that when Tsunami has been constantly sending dragons to be executed. As time goes on Tsunami becomes worse and worse, to the point to where Clay can no longer ignore it and pretend everything's fine. But how can he stop Tsunami and be her friend at the same time? Would he have to choose one or the other? Turtle was always just a nobody in the sea. Then out of of blue Turtle loses his mother and father in one day, and his new sister, Tsunami, who seems to have popped out of nowhere, becomes the queen of the SeaWings. He was almost certain that she had some kind of evil inside her, but who would stop her, where was the hero? Turtle didn't know until he met and saved someone, who told him he was the hero. But after another accidental disaster, Vein doesn't think the TimeWings trust him. One TimeWing hates him so much, that she wishes to use her magic on him. At least, that's what Vein thinks. Imprisonment by TimeWings is embarrassing enough, but becoming friends with one was more than crazy. What if the dragonet inside it actually survived? What if the SkyWing was hidden in a deep pit with only a sick IceWing guardian to take care of? After ten years, when the war of the SandWing Succession has finally come to a glorious ending and the Eye of Onyx has crowned Thorn as their new SandWing queen, Soaren, the surviving SkyWing, has been having trouble living in the pit for ten years all his life. He wanted to see the world. He wanted the sun to finally touch his scales. He wanted to spread his wings freely. His very, very large wings. When his IceWing guardian was about to die of SandWing venom, Soaren was determined to save him by travelling to the Rainforest, where he heard he could retrieve the cure for the venom. It would have been easier than going to the Sand Kingdom. But as Soaren flies through his journey, he meets a peculiar dragon as he passes the Sea Kingdom and some interesting dragons while he stays in the Rainforest. However, a strange occurrence happened at Jade Mountain. He and a few friends try to solve the mystery, gathering up all the clues while the SkyWing wonders if he should go back to his guardian. Soaren had hid his true identity as the 'lost' SkyWing, but he needs to eventually open up. With the NightWings in the Rainforest, more mind readers will be born and they'll find out who he is. But worst of all, he'll have to face something far more terrible than anyone could have imagined...
