❝ What did they find? ❞ Thomas looks back at him, and there is anguish clearly written on his face. ❝ You have Alzheimer's, Newt. ❞ His breath catches in his throat. Alzheimer's. ❝ There's no cure for that, ❞ he says. ❝ No, ❞ the other whispers, and Newt is struck by just how old he looks-Thomas isn't young anymore, certainly, but now his face seems to have aged ten years. Determination, however, lights his features as he continues. ❝ It'll be okay, though. You're on medication right now. That-that'll slow it down. And I'll take care of you. I won't leave. We'll get through this together, just like the way it's always been. ❞ Newt is dying, and the worse part is that his mind's too fucked-up for him to realize it. They finally got to the safe haven. Fortunately, Newt survived and Teresa survived. Thomas starts acting stranger and more distant every day. He gets some memories back from before the maze and remembers about the supernatural. It's even scarier - what he's going through - because he recognizes everything that happens. There's a voice, whispered riddles. Whispers by the same, old, rusty voice. Thomas doesn't tell anyone. He tried to, but something stopped him from talking. The nogitsune is in control again. And he will make everyone suffer for it. Trigger warning!!! Read with caution: this contains (mentions of) suicide, suicidal thoughts, a lot of angst, death, character death, scars, (mentions of) self-injuring... "I thought being trapped inside four stone walls would slowly drive me insane- then you came into the picture." Just like the rest of the gladers, Y/N ends up finding herself trapped inside of the maze. Being the only girl seems to suck, until she realizes not all guys are jerks- thanks to one blonde British boy. Scared. Lost. Confused. Love. Heartbreak. Drama. This all began with the maze. Everything has its place
Thomas' new life began in a metal box lurching through an elevator shaft. Confused, scared and filled with curiosity, he thinks the boys laughing maliciously at him are going to roast him over an open fire and eat him. When that doesn't happen, he's left with too many questions about who he is and where he came from. In his heart, though, he knows that he must become a Runner. A boy who is chosen to run through their prison, a Maze, and find an escape. This is a rewrite of the Maze Runner movies. I don't really know if rewrite is the right word, but I'm using this as an opportunity to practice my writing. It'll follow the structure of the movies with minor adjustments, especially just now in the first one. Later on more adjustments will happen, I think. I also want to include Newt/Thomas in this rewrite as I find the ship cute. My writing is a bit clunky and all-over-the-place but I hope you enjoy :) Please feel free to offer constructive criticism. It will always be welcome. Also, feel free to point out any mistakes or things that don't make sense? I've also posted this on AO3 under the same name :)
