Many of us have been asked to put into words the reasons why we hunt. The problem is, the reasons and motivations that compel me and many others to hunt are pretty hard to put into print. This is my first attempt at explaining what drives me to head into the woods each hunting season.

What leaps to mind is a quote from my father. Someone had asked him why he loved to hunt so much; what was so great about being in the woods.All Rights Reserved

Wives joke about becoming "widows" during this time because many of them are left alone to fend for themselves, while their men pack up and head to the great outdoors. Being caught in the "Crosshairs" isn't somewhere you want to be no matter what type of animal you are.

We all have fears that others will tell us are irrational, or crazy. Things we've been afraid of since we were little, or things we think we have good reason to be afraid of. I'm here to tell you, we have a sense of fear for a reason. I am living proof of what happens when you don't pay attention to the things you're afraid of; when you give in to the ideas of others instead of listening to your gut. Sometimes, you may really want to pay attention to that 'gut feeling' -- or else..you may not have a gut to listen to anymore.
