In the kingdom of Vegr, balance is key. There are six Clans, and each balances another. Together, they help to keep the kingdom in a calm and maintainable state. A different type of magic runs through each Clan, and every Clan is it's own community. Every Clan has it purpose and place in the kingdom, and each is important. The Aldranri harness the power of fire; the Vatn channel the power of water; the Sker practice earth magic; the Vindr control the winds; the Lífdagar, the favorite Clan of the king and people, use life magic; the Aldrnári, the least favorite and most feared Clan, hold power over death and disease.
The king, a greedy and power-hungry man named Reissnig Tívar, plans to plunge Vegr into a vicious and bloody war to gain control of the neighboring kingdoms. He is growing old, however, and the short span of his natural life will end before he can see his plans through. When a young sorceress, Zortea Krøntel, becomes leader of the Andlát Clan and learns the truth behind her parents' execution 10 years ago, she makes the decision to split from the kingdom. Without the Andlát Clan, Vegr falls into a state of chaos. With a war on the horizon and death and disease running rampant through the kingdom, either the king or Zortea must seek to make peace before the kingdom falls to ruin.

A/N: The Clan names and many character names in this book are Old Norse. Many of the spells are in Latin. I have labeled it mature because I will very likely use explicit language and one of the later chapters may contain some explicit content (I don't have all the details worked out yet, but better safe than sorry! ;3).
