1889. After a horrible incident, Sarah Wells is not only publicly humiliated by her hometown but is also disowned by her parents. She has no choice but to leave behind all that she's ever known to build a whole new life in a strange place called New York City. Promising herself not to make any lasting intimate connections, she is surprised to strike up the friendship of Mr. Bowers, a Civil War veteran, who becomes a father figure to her.

Everything seems to be going well for our heroine. For the first time, she gains independence and is far away from the painful memories of her past life. The new people in her life restores her faith in friendships. The experiences make her life richer, more vivid.

However, when Mr. Bowers asks Sarah for a seemingly innocent favor, her world may be on the verge of shattering again. Will this finally destroy the life Sarah has been trying to rebuild so hard? Or will it complete the missing pieces in her life once and for all?

Hullo, guys. If you're reading this, then you have somehow stumbled upon this little work of mine. Please accept my sincerest thanks. It means so much to me that someone is actually reading my work. As a writer -- or an aspiring one -- to have someone give you their precious time to read a work of yours is an honor unto itself.

I am in no way a good writer yet. My skills so far are half-baked and still need a lot of improvement, I know. However, with your help (*coughs* constructive criticism *coughs*), I am more than willing to hone my skills to a better writer.

I have read some stories here and they are all good in their own way. I hope that my work can be of the same standard someday.

I've read many a story in my lifetime. But this time, I'm telling it.

I know, I'm cheesy. XD
