Dragons are real, they stand next to their companions the dragon riders.
Every spring at every village dragon eggs are cycled through every kid, and if when that special kid is holding an egg and it starts to crack that kid is officially a dragon rider.
Half of the society is dragon riders and the ones that aren't wish they were. it was a high honor to be a strong and noble dragon rider but some became mad with power and focused on destroying the world, these dragon riders were called the dragon killers because they would kill anybody's dragon if it was not on their side and let the person live the rest of their life alone.
There used to be at least one hundred villages but now only half remained because of the dragon killers.
People were dying off with no food or shelter and dragons were slowly going extinct.
Who was going to save the world.......

First, there was existence. Then, creation. And finally, life. Organisms started to exist and live on the insignificant planet known as Earth in the middle of a galaxy out of the endless void that is space. Two races gained a gift all other creatures don't have: intelligence. Humanity and Dragonkind. Dragonkind was gifted with power and strength, while humanity had dexterity and creativity, always hungry for knowledge. However, when a conflict threatens to destroy the world, dragons become the definition of beasts and humans become nearly helpless to survive the onslaught or become monsters themselves. Dragon Riders
I grew up in a world where dragon riders were revered for not only their bravery and looks, but also for their intelligence. Children would spend days on end studying just in the hopes that they would get accepted to the Rider School, and those who did get accepted left their homes like kings, followed with respect and well wishes. It had been years since a dragon rider had been accepted in the Rider School from my town, which was understandable since we boasted a population of only 100 kids in the acceptable age range. Every year we were visited by the Counselor, the man who decided who would be accepted, and every year at that time our town lit up. Festivities lasted the Counselor's whole stay, with competitions to test children's intelligence, stamina, strength, and looks set up to look like games. Every year my brothers and I would be disappointed by our results, until my 15th year, when everything changed....
