Fortitude

The world was a safe place once. A place where one could venture outside and not be threatened by what lies beyond. A place where children could play out in the open and laughter could be heard and fun could be had. A place where fears didn't haunt you, a place of security. This world no longer exists. In Callie's world, fear is everywhere. In a world where mutated beasts and egotistical men rule, there isn't much that's not to fear.
One man wants to rule them all. He wants to take over the land and rid it of all the remaining communities who are trying to keep the past alive, Callie's community included. If the communities are gone, all of the people in them are exposed in the open, vulnerable to the beasts that lie and wait. But all hope is not quite lost in the midst of the battle. A band of individuals exists, one that is determined to fight the mutations and stop the war. They call themselves Fortitude. When Callie finds herself thrown into their midst, she is determined to help them; to stop the madness of the world they live in.
She finds herself intertwined in their mission, along with one of the team members she takes particular interest in. But, in order to stop the chaos of the world she has come to know as home, Callie must do the one thing she has always been taught not to do. Callie must be brave.
