This is Book 2 in the Tales of Terrakesh. Vesta and Iggy discover that Harpia - the deposed queen - has escaped prison. They are desperate to tell Queen Belarica but, it's Spring, and Belarica is interned in the Hatchery laying her eggs. Vesta & Iggy break in anyway but soon they are accosted by the Head Nurse.
