"Those things will kill you." I scowl at the lit end of his cigarette.
He doesn't look at me as he puffed it twice to prove his point that he doesn't care. Smoke flows from his lips and rises to ceiling to join the rest. "If you smoke you'll die. If you drink you'll die. If you eat you'll die. No matter what you do , Iris, you'll die."
"Then why try to live at all?" I challenge.
Turning his head to me, he leans forward with his elbows on his knees. "Why do you get up in the morning? Why do you set out on a search every day of the week? Why do you keep moving?" He doesn't give me time to answer. "Because you're not living for yourself, your living for someone else. It's such an unconscious thing you don't even know that's the reason." His head turns downward to where he is now looking between his knees. "For quite some time I though I should just give up because I never could find why I was living." He then looks up at me. His nearly pitch black eyes staring sadly into mine. "But now I have."

"Please, stop," I begged, my voice cracking. Tears streamed down my face, my eyes swollen and burning. "I can't handle this anymore. Just stay away from me." His words, "Little Angel, don't say that. I'm here to love you," were like a cruel joke. Love? The word tasted like ash in my mouth. His actions screamed something entirely different. "Your sweet words won't change anything. I need you to keep your distance," I responded firmly, putting all my energy into my voice. My breath hitched. One minute we were arguing, the next...fire. Agony seared my throat. He shoved me onto the bed, my head hitting the pillows hard. Stunned, I begged silently, God, please, save me from this monster. His hands were on my throat again, squeezing, stealing my air. Blurred vision, his eyes bloodshot, furious. "How dare you?" he growled. "Consequences, baby." ************************************ He, steeped in darkness, she, bathed in light. A collision was inevitable, a clash of opposing forces that threatened to shatter them both. Would he succumb to the light, or would he drag her down into his darkness? The stakes were higher than either of them could have imagined. This wasn't just love. It was a war for their souls. "I mean seriously, Matt, you can smell when I walk into a room, hear my heart every time I lie! For fucks sake, you can taste blood in the fucking air! But you can't tell when someone loves you?!" I practically yell, outraged with what's going on between us. "Who ever said that, Daeva?! I knew the second you loved me!" He yells as he bolts out of his seat, causing him to groan in discomfort from the stitches. "Than why the games?! If you don't love me back you could have just told me." I tell him, my chest rising and falling from our argument. "Even without the heightened senses, you know damn well I love you. You don't need to hear my heat beat for that. But if it will goddamn make you believe me..." He grunts angrily, grabbing a hold of my wrist and placing my cold fingers over his fast beating heart. "Tell me doctor, is this the feeling of a lying mans heart?" He whispers, his lips grazing my ear. I take in a deep breath and close my eyes about to respond. "You know your heart rate changes when you're about to say something, right?" He jokes with a knowing grin on his face. I bite my lip, hiding my smile before I press my lips onto his. "Now you're just showing off." I whisper as my hands travel to the back of his head, gripping onto his hair to push him onto me. 𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊 One night after a long day at work Daeva Novak finds a bloody masked man in a dumpster in her rough neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen. He once told me no one knows the real him.I didn't think he meant it, and not in a good way. He is a straight A student, and everyone knows it, not to mention he is on the swim team. All that though isn't the real him, the real him hides deep within himself. ---------- "Can you please tell me what that was?" I nearly shout at him. All I get is silence. He keeps his back to me. "Please, I need some explanation." I beg. I stay still as he stops dead in his tracks. His body is tense and it's scarring me. He turns around slowly to face me with his hands at his sides. His eyes meet mine, but there is no spark of any emotion in them. They are cold and dark making me look away not being able to hold his deadly stare. I feel uneasy under his gaze, and i feel his eyes burning a hole in the side of my face. "No, I won't explain because it's not important." He says in a low, almost, growl. I flinch and look back into his eyes. I feel hurt by his words and I don't know why, but I know he sees it in my eyes. His faces flashes with regret but it's quickly covered up with his faces going back to it's hard cold look. I feel my heart stop and my face go pale. His look terrified me making me hold my breath. "Breath." He orders. I start to breathe again and just blink at him. "Now go." He orders me again. I flinch involuntarily at his tone and jump back slightly. "Please don't let me walk home alone." I beg in a quiet voice, looking down at my feet. The next thing I see are his black combat boots right in front of my shoes. I look up into his eyes and he looks down into mine confusion written all over his face. "How come you aren't running yet?" He questions searching my eyes. "I just can't walk home alone, please I'm scared." I hear him chuckle. "You aren't afraid of me? What can possibly be scarier than me?" He asks. "Well, I know you will keep me safe." "Why is that?" He questions raising an eyebrow at me. "You haven't hurt me." "Yet." He mutters, but I roll my eyes.

A Love Story by RobertBHall

This is a love story for in truth it is our story, yours and mine. Two young people met and grew up together. They became acquainted quite by accident on the phone for a business purpose. After weeks of talking, they became very comfortable with one another's personalities and enjoyed the same sense of humor. She then asked him to come to her business for a cup of coffee. Something extraordinary happened, when they looked at one another both were silent and somewhat stunned. An electricity, but not quite, shot between them. This was an energy that neither of them had ever experienced and there were no words to adequately describe what they astonishingly felt. Tears came to their eyes and no words were yet spoken. They simply smiled and were somewhat stunned in the beauty of the moment. Instantly they understood that they'd known one another for a very long time and were simply re-uniting. When she spoke first, he heard what was somewhat like music in the melody of her voice. They were instant lovers. She was, by far, the most beautiful woman he'd ever had the honor to gaze upon. This wasn't simply a physical attraction but much much deeper. In his eyes, she seemed to be surrounded by a type of light. She's radiant. Their remembered love was coming to the surface and would continue to grow for the next twenty years. They were the deepest of friends and understood completely nothing would ever come between them again. They were happy. Bob
