Zidane, the cocky and lively protagonist of Final Fantasy IX, meets Cloud, the sarcastic and infamous hero of Final Fantasy VII. Zidane is on a mission to rescue his friend from an unknown enemy. Cloud, with some unknown motive, agrees to help Zidane. Together, they go on a journey to find a mysterious villain - or two. They also meet an odd ally on the way.
The story takes place in the world of Final Fantasy IX.
