Ofelia believed that her father left her behind to die the day the Shadow Knights invaded her home. She remembered thinking that it was her end, but it wasn't due to the Shadow Knight's kindness to bring her in sympathetically. They too had experienced similar betrayal to Ofelia and that's why she's one them. Her main goal is to get the Shadow Lord to the top of world and to kill her father. That's all there is to it.
But's that not the way it was supposed to be. Ofelia finds her home, destroyed and revisits her house and finds her diary, a scrapbook, and a bracelet, all of which will guide her down a path that she closed off and forgot about.
It also leaves her to question everything she's ever thought and ever done when the truth finally reveals itself.
