Dan and Phil first met in secondary school. Despite the four year between them, they immediately clicked and became the best of friends. Dan shares some o f his deepest secrets and trusts Phil like a brother.

Dan is a year 7, 11 years old and new to Rawtenstall. He starts being bullied for having gay mothers, but Dan himself wasn't exactly straight. From a young age, he knew that he wasn't always just attracted to girls, and his feeling were proved when he meets Phil. Dan thinks that Phil is the best thing that ever happened to him. After being hospitalised after an attack, he confesses his feelings to Phil and soon become lovers. 

Phil is a 16 year old. He was okay at school. After beating anorexia, he wants to help people. Phil is very smart and his friends, PJ and Chris think that he's an amazing person. When Phil meets Dan, he feels like a hole has been filled. After tragic events, helping Dan recover from a suicide attempt and tries to help with his depression. Soon Phil has to leave Dan to go to university, making their relationship long distance and limiting the days where they can see each other.
