"Cora..." I say with an annoyed tone. I throw her arms off my waist, and grab a hold of Claire's hand. She gives Claire a distasteful look then looks at me. "Couldn't you find a better date?" I walk to her, letting go of Claire's hand and I close the distance between Cora and I. I grab a hold of her arm and feel the bones crush underneath my hand. I feel Claire grab a hold of my arm, but I don't respond to her. "If you ever talk about my date like she isn't in the room, or even if you say what you said again, I will snap your neck. Now, run along." I say letting go of her arm. She gives me a look of hatred then scurries away. I find Claire's body with one of my hands and I feel her engulf me with her arms. "Please don't do that again." She says softly. A family of Vampires? Can they endure the craziness that follows the girl that they saved? Every year, my town chooses a sacrifice for the demon that "watches over" our home. In exchange for a person from the village between the ages of 17 to 25, the demon protects our village. And because of that pact, our village is protected for the next year, under the demon's watchful eyes. No one knows what happens to those who the demon chooses, but there's a lot of theories about it. One is that the demon eats or absorbs those who are chosen - another, that it kills them. But this year, I'm the one who's chosen. I get to meet the demon I've feared since I was a child, and now that I'm 24, and am considered an adult, I could have left the village behind. But I didn't. Something inside me told me to stay. Now, I'm going to die. I just know it. I can't leave now, or run away, because the town would be unprotected for a whole year, and that's where my family lives. I don't know what to do, but I'm sure I'll think of something. Besides, how bad can this demon be if they're guarding our town?Complete

Being trapped inside one place most of your life is suffocating. So I took it upon myself to go behind my mother's back every chance I got to leave. I never thought that one day I would be caught.
