Alexa Sanders is a victim and lost her family in a bombing taking place in the United States in 2020. 
Ever since that day, she has had to live with something that changed her drastically. And there hasn't been a way to fix that. 
She has something that no one would have ever thought to be possible. Powers. But she is no super hero. Because if someone ever happens to find out what she can do, and why the bombing is to blame for it, she could be in grave danger. 
Luckily, There is a program that help people like her. Help them hide and prepare. But prepare for what?... 
 Everyone in the program has a different secret. But they can't tell anyone, because if anyone knows the secret, they would be feared. But what happens when instead of being the one who is feared. There is someone else to fear more.

It's hard to be surprised by such news when it is the only memory you possess. Superpowers are just a fact of life at that point. The superpowers news turned out to be quite original for the rest of the world, which was entirely unaware someone like her existed at all. There is, however, an underground world of others like her, a criminal empire working toward something she had been trying to stop. But with no knowledge of what the villainous plan was, who these criminals were, or how to properly use her powers, things seem grim. She knows she is the only one who can stop them, and the only backup she has is a man who claims to have been her friend from before the accident. Will she be able to train her powers up, and stop the devious master plan before it's too late?

A nuclear explosion wipes out a small town in Indiana, which either kills, or rewrites the cells of anyone caught in it's range. Some people weren't able to handle it's affects, others have been changed. Everyone who survived was given a supernatural ability. Hallie Osborn was affected by the explosion, and was one of the few people her age who survived, and is taken into a hospital of sorts for people like her. Finn doesn't remember anything outside of the hospital, the first thing he could remember was the chemical tank. He's not sure why he's put in there so often, but isn't allowed to ask many questions. He's eventually introduced to the rest of the gifted, he explains to Hallie his time in isolation, not understanding how important he's become. The doctors and therapists are keeping many things from the gifted, and with the help of Finn, Hallie's going to figure out what.
