Avery Berkley is the daughter of a drill Sergeant, and has lived on a military base in the middle of Texas her whole life. She's never been to a real school before, she'd rather were jeans and converse than a dress and heels, and she knows how to drive a tank.

Then suddenly, she's sent to attend one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the state, Red Valley Prep, where she's a fish out of water.

First of all, she has to wear a uniform that requires a skirt. And the people there are all rich stuck up snobs, who treat her like the dirt she romps around in. That is at first, until she's adopted by her roommate Chelsea, who takes her under her rich, fashionable wing.

Then, she happens to catch the eye of the school golden boy, Holden Andrews, who likes the fresh face Avery brings to RV Prep. But there's the ever present fact that her dad could once more get deployed, and Avery will have to make the choice of a lifetime.
