Lycel's breath fogged up in the cold winter air, and the girl could feel his warm hand on hers beside them. "Do you think it will snow?" The girl asked, her curious eyes full of happiness turned toward the sky. "I don't know." Lycel watched her face with an intense, but tender, look. "Julie.. Look.." He started, but then he hesitated, closing his eyes. "Yeah?" He opened them to see Julie looking at him with a small smile on her face. "I've wanted you to know this for a while.." Lycel took a deep breath. "I know you've had a dark past and you've been hurt so many times before.. I want you to know that I'm always here for you. No matter what. I would do anything for you. I want to be the shoulder you cry on, I want to be the one that makes you laugh your beautiful, amazing laugh, I want to see your smile everyday, I want to hear your melodic voice, I want to see you because you're perfect in every way." "W-wait.. Lycel.." "No!" Lycel stood up from the bench they've been sitting on. "I want you to know this because this has been bottled up in my mind for so long. I freaking love you Julie. From the moment I got to know you, I knew you'd be the one for me. I would protect you with all my life." He sighed. "I bet you don't even feel the same.. It's alright.. I'm used to it.. I'm sorry Julie.." Lycel turned around and put his head against a tree. There was a moment of silence before he heard footsteps approaching. He felt cool hands on his shoulders, and he was turned around, to see Julie standing there, looking up at him. And then, she kissed him. The moment their lips touched, a snowflake drifted down from the sky.

"All's fair in love and war, or some shit, right?" He said, his smirk drawing to a slight sneer as he padded towards the open balcony. He rested his hands on the guardrail before letting out an exasperated sigh, thunder rolling behind it. The rain cascaded onto the tile in sheets, blowing the soft cream curtains back and forth. "Or some shit." I smiled, walking towards him. I could see the tension grow in his back and shoulders, his struggle evident. I placed my hand gently on his shoulder, trying my best to reassure him. I could feel his breathing hitch slightly at my touch; his response was all I needed to reassure me I was doing the right thing. My touch was welcomed. I leaned my head on his back, wrapping my hands around his waist. I longed to take away his pain; I hated seeing anyone this upset. She wasn't worth his time. He said so himself- he's never found a woman worth changing plans for. Maybe he meant since her, I can't be sure. I am, however, hoping to show him that, one day, that woman might be me. ****** Jeanie is a spunky assistant living in Atlanta.
