'Tis the Season
Naomi has always dreaded the holiday season but when she finds herself staying with the handsome stranger and his family that accidentally stole her Christmas tree through the holidays, she just might end up taking a large sip from that cup of holiday cheer that brightens up everyone's Decembers. --------- "You've never kissed anyone under the mistletoe then?" he asks, keeping his voice low. "Here's the deal," he began. "I know you don't feel the same way about me, and I know that it's very possible that you'll never return the feelings I have for you. That's why I've come up with a solution to satisfy us both." "I'm listening," I responded, admittedly a bit intrigued. "Today is December 14 which would be exactly twelve days before Christmas. Are you familiar with the classic Christmas song, '12 Days of Christmas'?" he questioned. I chuckled, shaking my head at his absurd question. "Uh, who isn't?" "Well then, here's my proposition for you: For exactly twelve days, you let me be your boyfriend," said Joey. "Joe, I-" "And before you say no," he said, cutting me off, "I think both of us could benefit from this deal. Know why? This would be my one chance to make you fall for me. If you don't by the time Christmas rolls around, then I'll leave you alone or we'll go back to the way things used to be - me and you, best friends and only best friends." He took a shaky breath before adding, "Besides, we're not really running the risk of 'ruining the friendship' since, and forgive me for the harsh words, but the friendship is already ruined so..." "Well... What exactly would we be doing for twelve days?" I inquired. "Well, since you asked, we'd be going on dates, doing stuff that would make you fall for me, and most importantly, we'd act like a couple. To summarize, you'll be getting the full boyfriend experience," he chuckled with a proud grin plastered across his face. "Interesting proposition, Joey," I complimented, giving him a little dorky applause. "I'm in. Your chance to prove yourself to me starts... now." Coffee Shop Stories
(STARTED : September 12, 2017) This is my word-count tracking mechanism for my short, fiction works due every Wednesday in my Creative Writing class. These little stories are called Ficlets. The rules are simple: I choose four prompts (out of the one-hundred and one prompts, provided by my teacher) every week and write in accordance to the topic. They each have to be between 100 and 300 words. They can only be about one, constant character or a small group of the same characters. The protagonist must be the same person in each Ficlet. Now, without further procrastination, I shall do my homework. (UPDATED DESCRIPTION : May 23, 2018) These short stories are about two boys, best friends, growing up in their small town. Their names are Charlie Bishop and Westley Skinner. The stories may not be super exciting or dramatic to the nines, but it's not about plots and themes, it's about character development along with adding to my own writing experience. These stories helped me create and watch my characters develop. I recommend any new writers to look at my work here - learn from these "ficlets," enjoy them, critique them; I don't mind. It may not be great to read, but my skills have improved from this task and I appreciate anyone who can do the same with their works.Complete
