The year is 1756.
Meerland is a vast island located between Europe and North America. It's know for it's rich variety of fish and spices and is quit successful in trade. However, the contrary holds many secrets. Dark ones, light ones. Just waiting to be set free.
Roy Venator is nothing special. Just a 'dork' as he is know as in the fishermen town of Ryōshi. With his Mother gone and his father always out at sea, Roy spends his days shoveling fish out of boats and just reading. Nothing special.
Although, a strange being finds his way into Ryōshi. Meerland isn't all that peaceful, pirates and thefts roam the land. Yet, there's one that stands out from the rest. The most feared criminal in Meerland. Crimson. A fierce assassin that tracked around killing off the guards that 'protect' the different towns.
After Roy has a run in with Crimson himself, he uncovers great secrets. The darkness that rules over Meerland from the shadows. Different mysteries that hide deep within.
Roy is given a choice. Go back to his normal life with all this darkness haunting him everyday. Or change Meerland. With his own 2 hands.
Many secrets drift around the country. Secrets of the rulers of Meerland. Secrets of Crimson. And even secrets that lie deep within himself.
