Belle was mutated to have her destructive powers, living her whole life as a literal lab rat, she doesn't trust many people, but over the course of the story, she learns to trust phew.
Ellie spent her whole life in an orphanage, since she was born with her powers and she didn't know it, but that was why no one was allowed to adopted her under the head mistresses orders.
Emily was a normal girl, this until she discovered her powers, caused by her grandmothers mystery alien genetics, though her powers are now under control, her powers have caused many unwanted deaths.
