The tires screeched to a halt, and what felt like we were driving for hour's turned out to be only five minutes. My heart was pounding frantically knowing that my past has just caught up with me and I'm going to be in such a hole.
"What the fuck was that Melody, seriously?" Jason looked at me and turned off the car and slid his seat belt off and slowly turned to face me.
I put my head down and knotted my hands together in my lap. I couldn't speak, the urge to cry was coming hard and I didn't know what to do or who to turn to.
"I- I just- It's my past but I can't get you involved. It doesn't concern you and I don't want nothing happening to you on my account." "Fuck that shit. You think I'm just going to sit here and think that nothing happened. Melody he hit you and told you that shit will happen if you don't corporate."
I kept my mouth shut at his sudden burst of anger and looked out my tinted window. It started to rain and now I can only hear our light breathing and a soft thumping from the rain pattering on the car.
A tear slid down before I can stop it and took an involuntary sigh.
He reached down to cup my chin and lift it enough so I had no choice but to look into his dark concerned eyes
"Why do you keep shielding away from me? Whatever it is I can help." his gruff voice whispered.
"I can't" my voice trembled. "My past is my past. If you get caught up in I would never forgive myself to see you get hurt." Repeating my concern for him again then I pulled gently and he let go of my chin slowly.
"I'm a cop and detective for a reason, let me do my job. I promise to protect you and not let harm get in the way."
I looked up and gave him a weak smile. While that feeling creep back up into my body.
Stop letting him in. The more he sees the more he'll push thinking he can make it all better. Now I know what I need to do. Leave tonight before he realizes that I'm gone.
"Okay." I nodded my head slowly as he gave me a reassuring smile.
