Hanahaki Byou(花吐き病)
An illness born from one-sided love. Those affected with Hanahaki Byou or Hanahaki disease vomit and cough up flower petals-sometimes whole flowers depending on the severity of the case. The cause of the coughing up and vomiting of petals is due to the growth of a flower within the infected person's chest. There are only two cures. One is to have the feelings returned-no side effects whatsoever. The other is through surgery-a simple procedure that removes the flower and remaining petals from the chest cavity. When the petals disappear, so do the feelings and memories of the unrequited affection. If not cured or if left alone, the flower will grow and grow until eventually the person affected asphyxiates.
