Life has always been hard for 16 year old Maria Gasbert. Her mother died when she was 9 and her dad started drinking. He found a girlfriend a year later and married her when Maria was 12. Erin, Maria's stepmother, was a witch. She always made fun of Maria and called her horrible names. 4 years later they all moved into a fancy, rich neighborhood because Maria's father had a lot of money. Scott, Maria's father, always ignored the hateful comments Erin gave to Maria. Or he was always just too drunk to give a damn.
