Vanessa Brady is thirty and single. Her brother is happily married to an amazing woman and no one was more shocked by it than her but, while everyone around her seems to be moving on with life, she has remained where she has always been.

When one Friday night turns into a sad pity party, Vanessa finds herself agreeing to something she would never before be caught dead doing but... desperate times call for desperate measures.

The advertisement didn't promise any success of being chosen but, the prize was worth the gamble. The game was simple, agree to marry a complete stranger on live television and allow the world to watch your first year of marriage. If you succeed in lasting that long, the prize of one million dollars is yours to spend. 

On the day of her wedding, no one is more disappointed than her at her new husband Jonah. He is nothing like the men she goes for but she wants the prize. It all seems rather easy but Vanessa will soon learn that the first year is always the hardest and it's only made worse with a stranger. With cameras and the country watching their relationship, can Vanessa find a level of normal anywhere? What happens when her ex boyfriend and the father of her child suddenly reappears swearing to get her back?

Vanessa may just learn something along the way but, on her quest to win, she may just end up losing a lot more than she hoped.
