"Look at how beautiful life can be," he opened the window. The breeze fluttered the old silk curtains. "Look at this snowflake," he said, stopping one midair. He pulled it inside, shutting the window. He cast a spell on it, and set it gently on the window sill. "Each one is very different, and together, they make something beautiful. Some melt away," he smashed it into water, "and some, drift on." He undid the melting. It refroze into a new, even more beautiful shape. "Some are changed forever by things beyond their control, but they are still snowflakes." He set it on her nose. She went crosseyed looking at it. This made her smile.
"You are still a wizard, Fex, even if sometimes you wish you weren't."
