It's Only Ever Gilber and Me is about Sullivan Green also known as green bean at his school. Sullivan is very short of friends but his one and only friend is his frog Gilber who couldn't be any more loyal. He never tells a secret (see what I did there). Sullivan battles his way through middle school just him and Gilber. When Sullivan is 18 he decides he wants to start getting stronger to join the army where he becomes popular. Sullivan has absolutely no clue what war is like until he is send into The Peca War where he almost gets killed plenty of times. Along the way he makes friends, loses friends, and misses Gilber who is back in Kansas with his mother. Will Gilber end up having to miss Sullivan or will the two best friends be reunited?
