It had been 7 years since the Solar Virus had hit Earth. Three weeks had passed and an antidote had finally been created to help save what remained of mankind. Dante, a 19 year old boy offered himself to the trials program to help them find a cure faster in order to save his sister and sick father from being infected. Book 1 picks up 7 years down the track in a fictional city named Del'nartorus and follows the life of Dante, the sole survivor from the testing of the drug D2.1.012. Now a Solder and the head of his squad, they journey through the city on scouting venters referred to as laps, during which they would search for any survivors still hiding amongst the wreckage to bring home to the Fortress. Fortress was a giant cube of metal in the heart of the city that the few hundred thousand surviving humans called home, and was their line of protection against the creatures that roamed the night. The humans that lived within the cube had a full eco system thriving within, the sun doors which were these massive plates of metal operated by machinery would open in the morning to provide light to the farms and plantation on the ground level. Below that a heavily fortified entrance to the underground mines provided access to water, and above were other floors such as engineering, construction, food preparation and stock all shared amongst the 100 floors that were the operations floors and above were 100 floors of living quarters. Fortress was roughly 1000 meters wide by 1000 meters and only had two entrances in or out, one fortified underground passage that lead out of the city to a defended outpost and the main entrance to allow survivors in and the soldiers that find them out.
