72 days till graduation and hasn't thought about a valedictorian speech. 46 days till the college admittance deadline and doesn't have a clue. 65 days till prom and still dateless.
In the spring of her senior year, Reagan Mack prefers to ignore those numbers and focus on something much more important: 81 days till the final chance to break the school's mile record - though preferably sooner.
After all, it's loads easier to calculate splits than to judge college offers, easier to run sprints than to worry about some stupid dance, and probably easier to beat the school's time than to decide how she feels about the boy who just can't seem to leave her alone.
And, if nothing else, it keeps her mind off the most important thing of all:
54 days till her dad (hopefully) comes home.
