This was a scholarship essay I wrote, The topic is "Lead by Example" and I wanted my story to stand out so i did something a little risky. This is about a boy Eugene in a prison, but not a regular prison. Can he lead himself and others to the door to escape?

Updated Summary: With the creation of different dimensions and universes, came forth intelligent beings. To regulate these dimensions and universes, higher beings took control of containers called UniOrbs. These containers not only regulated the Gods and the souls of those worlds but also dictated the processes of reincarnation. The UniOrb could not do this on their own, so they contracted souls to become "Systems" that made sure souls were able to reincarnate, but not all souls were fortunate enough to do so. "Systems" then teamed up with souls called "Hosts" to make sure unfortunate souls got their wishes fulfilled, their souls healed properly, and ready for reincarnation. To make sure the Systems and Hosts had a proper base of operations, the UniOrb created a separate space called the Command Center. This Command Center was at the entrance of the reincarnation sea, where souls would go to their next destination. The person in charge was called, "God System." One System was not satisfied with their status quo. They created something known as the "Villain System." This Villain System was designed to suck the life and energy from different worlds, using it to spread a virus that would slowly take over the UniOrb. Their goal: Take over the UniOrb to become the new higher being that controlled it. When all hope seemed to be lost for those in the UniOrb and its Command Center, one System, System 225, gained control from the Villain System, rescued his "Host," and together go from world to world, gaining enough energy to combat the System that created the Villain System. When the quiet college student Alexander Hamilton arrives at Kings College, he automatically feels like something was gonna go completely wrong. Similar to most things in the young boy's life. Unfortunately, his suspicions were correct. He found out he had to share a dorm with none other than his enemy from high school, Thomas Jefferson. Thomas had bullied Alex countless times during their senior year of high school, (when Alex transferred,) and Alex hadn't gotten over it when he saw him again. I mean, who would be all cool with their roomie that made them cut themselves? But anyways, over time, Alex notices that Thomas isn't the basic bully that he seems, and there's a lot more to him that what he previously saw. And the more of Thomas he saw, the more he started to love him. Would Thomas return those feelings? Or would he make Alex's life a living hell for confessing his feelings? (DISCLAIMER!! I was 11 or 12 when I wrote this and had no grasp on the proper language and behavior for fanfic. I said a lot of inappropriate stuff in this book, and I have altered what I could in light of becoming older and recovering from the really awful experience that made me act out the way I did. Some parts are important to the story, so I can't erase them. But I will put trigger warnings for almost smut and self-h*rm. And maybe some stereotypes and insensitive language, as I was uneducated about lgbtq and how it can be appropriately represented by a straight woman. To anyone I've made uneasy in any way, I'm sorry. I was a real annoying and inappropriate writer. I've been a lot more friendly about my books since this, and my family and friends have helped me see how mentally messed up I was when I was writing this. I feel sick to my stomach thinking I once wrote like this and conducted myself in this manner. Please forgive me. I've learned a lot in the four years since I wrote this. Everything has its place
Thomas' new life began in a metal box lurching through an elevator shaft. Confused, scared and filled with curiosity, he thinks the boys laughing maliciously at him are going to roast him over an open fire and eat him. When that doesn't happen, he's left with too many questions about who he is and where he came from. In his heart, though, he knows that he must become a Runner. A boy who is chosen to run through their prison, a Maze, and find an escape. This is a rewrite of the Maze Runner movies. I don't really know if rewrite is the right word, but I'm using this as an opportunity to practice my writing. It'll follow the structure of the movies with minor adjustments, especially just now in the first one. Later on more adjustments will happen, I think. I also want to include Newt/Thomas in this rewrite as I find the ship cute. My writing is a bit clunky and all-over-the-place but I hope you enjoy :) Please feel free to offer constructive criticism.
