Summary: Reina Peterman worked her ass off every day to make sure she was perfect. She lived in a perfect apartment, had a perfect job as a business manager of a major company, and always looked up to almost perfect expectations. One day, after going 48 hours with no sleep, she took the subway and had dozed off on the way to work. When she woke up, she ended up on the wrong side of town. Her battery for her cellphone was dead, her purse was stolen, and she had no idea how to get home. All she had to rely on were the very scary people she just met. One of those people she met wasn’t as scary as she thought, and showed her that life wasn’t as perfect as she thought. Derek Caddis worked his ass off every day to live a decent life. He tried hard to support his family and himself. He lived in a crap apartment, had a low paying job as a bartender, and never lived up to perfect expectations. He didn’t believe in perfect. His parents refer to them as 'Bad Brownies. Bad Brownies couldn't be part of the Foster's household. When Caleb met Evonne Smith, a girl with depression, his entire world changed. A love affair evolved. Within this love affair came hardships. Things started going down hill when his state of well being began crashing down, leading him to believe that fighting for love in the time of prejudice was a dangerous path. Not when his parents, especially his mother was secretly wishing for Evonne's downfall. Evonne Smith grew up in a crazy household and that gave her mental problems. Wiithin this household held lots of secrets and she just couldn't take it anymore. Her mom was a druggie and an abuser. And that meant trouble. When her mother disappeared from the family life, her father met a woman and moved to Chicago. This was not something Evonne was waiting for. She definitely didn't like changes. Not when the step mom was kind of mean to her. When she met Caleb, her life changed into something she never thought would ever happen to her. Someone genuinely loved her, and it was a boy and she couldn't let this go by. But when hidden secrets get revealed only they can change them. Told in both POV.
