-Sometimes it's not the destination that matters, but what we find along the way.
For the third time that day I had been tricked by my own mind, had lost hope when hope was still there, and had found hope in places it didn't belong. Is that the definition of being human? The misconception of the world around us, to not truly ever understand what was happening, and how it would play out? Or was this just another one of such misconceptions in a sea recently calmed, I being one, or one of many still here, wondering what was truly going on.

What did they mean? I knew who I was, didn't I? I was Rosalia Mallory, a girl left on the doorstep of our town's foster agency to find a new home. Just a normal teenage girl with a normal life. But at the same time, I'm not. Who am I? Seems like the most cliché question a teenager can ask right? Except when your missing months, if not years, of your life suddenly that seemingly simple question takes on a whole new meaning. " A girl's love is like a puff of smoke - it changes with every wind. " Life is filled with uncertainty, confusion, perplexity, but above all, unpredictability. I've always believed these words to be true, but in all honesty I never felt I truly comprehended their essence. However, that exact comprehension is key to understanding anything in life. And it was time I learned that basic lesson. I never thought things would end up like this. I never thought that my heart would ever feel so divided between two people, precisely because I never thought that love was a divisible value. I needed, and maybe I still do, to believe in the natural process, the classical interpretation of love ; where you meet the one, and things flow from there in the most calm way one can ever think of. But it hasn't been like that for me. I tried to stop it, I tried to reason everything and find some sense into the whole mess that was created. And I failed. Riona. In case you haven't guessed by now, that's me. This is my story. And I'm going to start from the very beginning, so you can get the full picture. They say we're not defined by our past. But I believe that the past is what makes you who you are. It moulds you. It sticks with you no matter how far ahead in life you get. And then, it catches up to you, putting you in a chokehold you can't possibly get out of. In my case, my past is very messy. I don't like it, but I also can't seem to shake it off. Almost ten years down the line, and I'm still in the same position, making the same decisions. I thought I'd changed. I thought I was better.
