"This is not about the protagonist." It's simple. Boy meets girl. Girl meets boy. They both fight until they fall in love. It's predictable and requires absolute no thought to try and comprehend this story. Marie is the main character of that story. But this is in the view of her best friend, Grey. She makes a bet with the new kid, Luke Hemmings, that their friends won't fall in love. Grey's just a side character, a protector, a plot device to move the story along. So she gets to see the wildly cliche love story of her best friend. But what if she gets a love story too, one with awkward jokes, weird stake outs, and lots of public announcements.
