How To Steal A Car: What Happens Next

15 year-old Kelleigh Monohan's troubles all started at the Ridgedale shopping centre where her and her best friend Jen where casually eating a double scoop of chocolate chip ice-cream. A passing man drops his keys without noticing and Kelleigh, being the disobedient girl she is, decides to take the keys despite Jen telling her not to. She slips them in her handbag, planning on giving them back later, but something stops her. This is where her addiction begins. From that day on, Kelleigh steals more and more cars, getting her friends involved too. She then acquires a job as a car stealer from a boy in her class called Deke. Throughout Peter Hautman's novel, Kelleigh has to recover from near-death experiences, put up with her fighting parents, share her boyfriend with Jen, feel as though she's just as bad as some of the criminals her lawyer father works with and if course, live with the guilt. His book ends with Kelleigh driving off in yet another stolen car.
