When a young Maiden, Gothel, struck up an affair with the Prince ; it was magical and straight out of a Fairy tale, and when Gothel became pregnant, she was excited to say the least. But once the Prince married his betrothed and became King, he fell in love with his Queen. This caused some trouble in the Kingdom, for the King cannot be known for having a bastard for a child. So, he did the only thing he could to protect his Kingdom, he had the bastard child, Rapunzel, executed. This caused Gothel so much grief and resentment towards the King that she stole his infant daughter, named her Rapunzel, and raised her as her own. Making sure that her former lover would never see his daughter again, an eye for an eye; a daughter for a daughter.

Gothel's world is turned up-side down once two thieves leave their daughter with her and then take off. Once she discovers the dangers that could follow this child she realizes she has no choice but to hide her away from the world.
