Wonders

This is a world where no one lives free, and everything has a challenge. Where almost everything comes with a price. Where you truly have to work hard to keep the ones you love. But, if your famous in rankings, you get everything that you want.

There are one million people in my city, Calopiea, and everyone is ranked by many things: good work in school, who you know and/or date, your job, how many people mention your name, and just plain judging.

The lower in ranks you are, the better. Like my sister, she got strait A’s (as if it matters), one of the A list guys as her boyfriend (Who is ranked low because of how much of a jerk he is), and because she’s a famous guitar, drums, and piano player. She’s ranked at number one thousand four hundred thirty five. Almost in the top thousand.

But, ever since she made the top ten thousands she’s been horrible, thinking everyone else is pathetic. I’m number six hundred fifty two thousand eight hundred forty three. She despises me for being so high, but I don’t care anymore. She’s so selfish she thinks one person higher than her is in the hundred thousands.

But, anyways, the city isn’t all that bad, there’s a lot of good too. No arranged marriages (Thank God!), and there are so many mysteries and wonders out side the city… If only we were allowed out. I’m Kate Hutching, and this is my story.
