Harry is a mute, and he's been one since he was eight years old. He doesn't even speak to his sister, but she has found her own way of communicating and understanding him. He likes to paint more than breathing, and expresses his thoughts that way.

Ebony is a struggling kindergarden teacher who knows what children want more than they do. She does the same thing every single day, and it isn't long before she realizes that her life has become a routine.

However, when she meets Harry - the boy in the corner of the art room who is somehow ingesting a piece of chalk - she knows her life is about to change.
