Ann is pretty reserved, only speaking to the few people she knows and trusts. She sees others as a waste of space, whose only function is it hurt. When a new boy, Jordan, rolls into town, she chooses to reach out instead of shrinking away. Her own decision frightens her, she thinks Jordan is different and maybe even trustworthy to know whats really going on with her. Is Jordan worth it? Is he really what she's been dreaming for, but just afraid to accept?

Many characters to follow up. You have the scenes/emos. Then you have the popular/everyone knows who they are. Meet Natalie, the girl who is a social reject. She's in this world where she speaks only when spoken to. She's in this group where people like her don't respect anybody. Then you have Harry, the guy everyone knows and the guy everyone adores. He doesn't hurt a fly. When Natalie and Harry actually meet, things starts to change in both groups. Natalie's ex-boyfriend is trying to be protective of her and trying to win her back. Harry's friends are trying to keep him away from Natalie and the scene crowd. But Harry can't help himself. And neither can Natalie.
