Set one hundred and seventy years after the Great Divide, Samos is the dazzling, powerful and wealthy capital of Emedridon. The Samarians, the elite population of the capital, are the only ones who can enjoy the luxuries and comfort, whilst the Drims are forced to a life of hard labour, slums and poverty, constantly providing for the class above them.
    
    The streets are a dangerous place. Outlaws and murderers team up and form gangs, each one deadlier than the next, blending in during day and terrorizing at night. 
    
    Eighteen-year-old Mar is a Drim - homeless and parentless, she never stays in one place for too long, until she finds two children whom she cannot bare loosing. Escaping the brutalities of yet another orphan home, she takes them both with her and, together, they survive by stealing and pickpocketing. Mar understands that staying on their own, without the protection of another gang, puts them on the radar for other gangs in Emedridon, so when all hope seems lost, Xander Rowe and his gang of criminals find Mar and her small group and form a strong alliance against the neighboring gangs.  
    
    When Mar thinks there is finally some stability in life, a handsome stranger enters into it, turning everything she's ever known, upside down, and making Mar question her identity, purpose, and the place where she truly belongs.
