Darkness is a shared fear among the people of my world. The colours black, white and grey are words that are never spoken lightly, and once you meet 'the one', are rarely seen. 

Colours are the obsession. After spending a lifetime without them, people are frantic to find them. 

I found my Colours, along with my soulmate, at age twenty-two while walking the streets of my city. Tall grey buildings changed in an instant. Bright textures and shades shone from the buildings - colours, that's what they were. 

And I turned to look upon the man who had give me my Colours, the man who was supposed to be mine. But before I could move, before I could do anything, he swore. And then he ran.

When your eyes meet the one, all the colors in the world are available to see. Its beautiful. Or so I've heard. 23 and never fucking seen anything colorful at all. Probably never will. Color. It's something our brain makes up. It doesn't really exist. So how come everyone made a big fuss about meeting and touching their soulmate so they could see in color? After all, what's so bad about black and white? Aren't they colors too? That's what Nico thought anyway. When he was younger he had tried to imagine a new color but had never been able to. His sister had died seeing the world in black in white. Nico didn't see the point of color. That is, until he touches his soulmate and sees what he's been missing out on... Edited January 2024.

Linnea, the story's main character, believes her childhood best friend is her soulmate, but she soon learns that there are tricks to this color system. Sometimes, color can be falsely seen in faint hues and sometimes, the person you thought was your soulmate really isn't. When she meets Jade, she learns that perhaps your soulmate isn't exactly the person you imagined.

This is an x reader story but make it soulmates. Cause I seriously need some form a mental stability. Anyways please enjoy this. The art is a redraw of mine cause I felt the need. Um i forgot to mention is a colorblind soulmate story. Basically when two soulmates have physical connection you'll see color (only while in contact until they have kissed, after that everything stays colorful.). But until then everything is in black and white. If they experience heartbreak because of their soulmate or their soulmate dies everything goes back to black... whoops.
