"I can't. You can't." I said not bothering to look in his eyes.
"Why? Elena I need you. I want you." He said softly.
"You can't want me. I'm not going to do that to Alex."
I was on the verge of spilling my tears. I've never been like this before. Why now? Why in front of him?
"I can't like her. No one can force me to like her but me." He said stepping closer. I stepped one step back.
"You know she likes you. You know that. I can't like you, you can't like me. I'm not asking for you to like her. I'm asking you to not like me. I can't do that to a friend." And with that, I turned and walked away not wanting to be in his presence anymore.
If this is how it's going to be, if I have to hide my feelings forever, then that's what I'm going to do. No matter how hurt and broken I become.
