The world is waring. Long-held tensions among nations have erupted into all-consuming warfare, and even the sacred alliances that existed for centuries are being tested by short tempers and ultimatums. The decadence of wealthy nations has transgressed into decay, and those that began with little have less. There is no question of salvation -- there is none, but survival remains on the tip of everybody's tongue. It is the word spoken in hushed tones in dark corners, as if to preserve its integrity and protect it from the airstrikes and gunshots that fill the air. Don't say it too loud or else it will crumble, like the glorious buildings and streets of past cities. No, it must be spoken silently, felt not heard. The desperate desire for survival remains the Earth's only hope, and five individuals are determined to keep it alive, even if it necessitates their deaths.
