"Are you fully aware of what the consequences are?", the beautiful witch of the sea asked, her voice old and rigged.

"Yes", the mermaid quietly said, fear showing in her eyes.

"Then you know that I want token in return", Daeva spoke. "Let me warn you that the Lady of the seas will be upset. She has seen your future, and it is not a happy ending."

"Nothing will change my mind, ask for anything. Anything", Aliyana begged, clasping her hands together. The witch smiled, knowing what she wished for.

"Your voice", she said, shocking the emerald eyed girl.

"How will I communicate?", the mermaid asked.

"You shall learn elsewhere. For now, use your body, though your eyes show quite a bit too."

"But-"

"It means much to you. It is what helps you to support your family. After all, even the Lady has claimed your voice to be the most beautiful in throughout the many seas."

The girl was torn. Stay with her family, or find love with a human. She was scared, knowing she would turn to sea foam if something went wrong. She had heard the witch, the Lady knowing her ending would not be well.

"I have to try", Aliyana whispered to herself.

"I will sweeten the deal. You shall have the ability to speak once."

"I... I accept your deal."

"So be it."

So many years later when Princess Muriel becomes curious about humans, she keeps it to herself. Muriel lives in a castle with her father, sisters, and best friend, Percy. Some of her sisters blame her for their mother's death so Muriel avoids them when at all possible. She gains an interest in humans and trails after their ships. For humans, mermaids are bad luck so she knows that they won't attempt to harm her. The first time Prince Philip steps foot on a fishing boat he witnesses the crew catch a mermaid. Although terrified, he moves forward to help untangle her as no one else is moving. He prays that she'll forgive him. Worry forms when she takes a lock of his hair. Was that a way of marking him? Regardless, he doesn't fight, not wanting to make it worse. Worry increases when she's spotted again. Muriel begins to develop a crush on Prince Philip after he frees her from the net. When her sister's displeasure with her grows worse, Muriel seeks to avoid it. In a desperate attempt to do so she finds herself cave of the sea witch Minerva. Philip's kindness remains prominent in her mind when Minerva offers her a choice to be a human. Hesitantly she agrees, unaware of how different the human world from hers. Philip's bodyguard begins to catch on that Muriel is different and Percy and the king quickly become desperate to find her. My own version of "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen. A Mermaid for the Lonely by jessisme123

A mermaid named Sirène, whose job as a mermaid is to guide those who have died at sea to rest their souls and not be trapped. She typically finds sailors whose ships have sunk, and pirates and convoys alike. Her personality is one of seriousness, and she does not express herself by facial expressions very often. She does sung lovely tunes though, ones of the sea and winds, not ones meant to lure anyone to their doom. She seldom spends time with other merfolk and prefers to be on her own. She is however very curious of the various emotions humans possess and their intensity, since she does not feel these. One day, while Sirène was staying near Pointe de Pen Hir, a dangerous cliffside that plunges right into the ocean. Looking upwards by chance, she saw a human, a man, standing dangerously near the edge of the rocks. The wind blew harshly and she could only watch and wait as he toppled over the edge and feel towards the ocean. She saw no fight in him as he fell. ________________________________________________________________ This is a fantasy story with my mermaid OC that I started making back when I was in middle school. I've used her character to help me through tough times and I am revisiting her. I want to make sure I have a place to remember her story, and make it a happier one than before.

Before Lucia tries to get out of the water, she was suddenly transformed into a mermaid by the two white witches. There are two ways to break the spell before her time is up by the next month. If Lucia gets a kiss by the merman, she'll be a mermaid for all eternity. If the princess gets a kiss from the prince on land, she will be human again. If not, she will be lost in the world of water. Will Lucia see her family again as a mermaid? How is she going to reach them if she can't swim as a mermaid? Princess Lucia was new to be a mermaid.
